Dr. Tom Roland was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his undergraduate degree at Fairfield University in Connecticut with a B.A. in Psychology in 1975. Shortly after college he moved to Austin to become a Vista Volunteer and worked as a visiting teacher in a low income elementary school. Recognizing a new career goal, he returned to University of Texas to receive his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1982. After graduation he then completed a General Practice Residency in 1983 at the V.A hospital in Los Angeles, California. and then entered private practice in Austin.
Dr. Roland always had a vision of creating a multi doctor practice to offer the highest quality dental treatment within our own facility and founded Austin Dental as we now know it in 1996. He is honored to be part of a unique team of doctors and staff so committed to excellent patient care.

His hobbies include bicycling, swimming, wood working and snow boarding. He is also a two time Ironman finisher. He’s been married to his wife Janey since 1990 and have two children, Patrick and Ellie.
