First Visit

Your initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive exam and full series of x-rays. If the patient's gum tissue is healthy and time allows, a cleaning may be completed at that first visit.  However, a complex medical history, treatment plan, or the existance of periodontal disease will require additional appointments for the cleaning.  We will also discuss other treatment needed at this initial appointment as well as present the patient with a treatment estimate.  We will help you schedule additional appointments for treatment, unless there is time available on the same day.

Austin Dental does welcome emergency patients.  If you are having a problem with a tooth, please call our office so that we can set up a limited evaluation and x-ray of the problem area.  A treatment diagnosis will be made at that and if time allows, treatment may be started.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the initial visit.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to your visit (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require medication prior to dental cleanings (i.e. antibiotics, for pre-med.)

X-Rays

If your previous dentist has taken recent x-rays (within 6-months), you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
